Health microbiome consists of a group of microorganisms or microbes like bacteria, viruses, and fungi found in certain parts of our body that play an essential role in maintaining an overall healthy wellbeing. The gut and oral microbiome are interrelated to aid in preventing numerous in preventing diseases that are linked to an unhealthy microbiome system. Imbalanced gut microbiome can affect the health of the oral microbiome and trigger conditions like gingivitis, dental decay tooth decay especially in children. How to maintain a healthy oral microbiome

I recommend the following tips to improve oral microbiome health;

Add more fiber giving foods in your diet

Increasing your dietary fiber intake can support both oral and gut microbiome which keeps the mouth or teeth clean and preventing any infections linked to leaky gut. Oat meals, broccoli, chia seeds, beans, avocado, quinoa, green veggies and apples are great sources of fiber that can help maintain a healthy oral microbiome.

Clean your teeth and mouth daily

Flossing and brushing regularly can prevent accumulation of dirt or food particles and lower plaque in the mouth. This can be effective in balancing the oral microbiome and provide a healthy mouth.

Other tips include;

Limiting smoking, sugary foods or drink and caffeine, quitting smoking, using antibacterial mouthwash products, cleaning the tongue, taking prebiotics,  and having regular dental checkups.
