QUICK AND SIMPLE TESTS TO CHECK IF YOU HAVE HIGH CHOLESTEROL

The shin test

Conducting the shin test can help you determine whether you have high cholesterol levels or even coronary heart disease due to the increased cholesterol amounts.

To know if you have excess cholesterol in the body, press your shin gently with one finger, if there is a visible dent or hole on the shin, this implies that your cholesterol levels are too high. This test implies that the excess cholesterol amounts have slow down and inhibit smooth blood pumping and flow which makes the heart struggle to supply blood effectively due to cholesterol deposits on the blood vessels especially the arteries.

Other tests that can imply an increase in cholesterol levels

The best way to know if you have moderate or high cholesterol levels is by doing a blood test. Your cholesterol amounts account for higher levels when it exceeds 240mg/dl. Pale toe nails and numbness in the legs or feet can also indicate high cholesterol levels. Build-up and deposition of high cholesterol levels in the blood vessels can cause plaque characterized by fat accumulation and narrowing of blood vessels. Narrowing of the arteries can result to pale nails on the feet as less blood and nutrients reach all the body parts. This can also increase your risk of heart attacks, stroke and other heart diseases.
