Energy drinks consumption can negatively influence the blood vessels. Research suggests that 90 minutes after drinking an energy drink, can narrow the blood vessels. It is believed that the narrowing is likely due to the formulation used in most energy drinks, including herbals, taurine, sugar, and caffeine. It is the reason I always advise my clients, especially athletes and exercisers, to limit intake of these drinks during exercise sessions. It is the time your blood circulation increases and requires smooth flowing towards the cells and muscles. But how does this happen when the blood vessels are tight and smaller? It may impair performance because of limited oxygen delivery.
