TIPS ON FINDING SELF CONFIDENCE AS YOU AGE.

How your confidence can be impacted as you age

Confidence as we age can reduce following life-changing occurrences, such as, losing our loved ones and retirement. As a result, an individual ends up less active and mostly lonely. Most of them even become fearful.

When you become parents

When transforming into motherhood or fatherhood, people may lose confidence due to new life events, including having responsibilities yet feeling insufficient to handle. New moms, especially may lose confidence in their bodies because of changes related to childbirth. Some may have to compromise their career to take care of kids.

When your children leave home.

When your lastborn or the only child leaves home for various reasons, including marriage, you may not be sure of what next. It may come with a lot of emptiness accompanied by anxiety, fear, and feelings of loss, which may reduce your confidence.

Why this can happen and then I’m looking for some tips about how to rediscover your self confidence if it has taken a hit.

I recommend the following tips;

Learn a new skill

As we age, we may have enough time to do more than people imagine, which can help increase our confidence and boost self-esteem. For example, you can join a piano class or learn a new language. It helps improve your mental health and mood. You can also regain confidence.

Connect with others

People with low self-esteem may struggle to socialize. But I recommend taking smaller steps towards meeting people. You can join a gym and get a training partner or engage in community fitness. It may help get new friends that possibly reassure you. Again, you may see your value and worth, which may just add to your confidence.
