WHAT ARE ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS?

1) what artificial sweeteners are

Artificial sweeteners are chemical sugar substitutes added to some drinks and foods to boost sweetness.

 2) what they do for the foods they’re in

They provide ‘intense sweetness’ since they taste like normal sugar but numerous times sweeter. However, the amount used is too small to add calories to the food they are in.

3) what foods they’re typically found in

  • Puddings
  • Dairy products
  • Canned foods
  • Candy
  • Baked goods
  • Soft drinks and beverages

 4) any health implications from consuming them

Excessive natural sweeteners consumption can result in health problems, including weight gain associated with lifestyle diseases, such as diabetes and heart issues. It can also cause tooth decay, preventing proper nutrition as you may be forced to select only what is chewable. Sweeteners in alcohols contain laxative properties, leading to intestinal gas, bloating, and diarrhea.

My goal is to help people improve their health and well-being without torturing themselves with unnecessary dietary restrictions. I am a supporter of a healthy lifestyle – I play sports, cycle, and swim in the lake all year round. With my work, I have been featured in Vice, Country Living, Harrods magazine, Daily Telegraph, Grazia, Women's Health, and other media outlets.
