Reading Before Bed

Whether Reading Before Bed Can Help You Sleep

When you read before bed, your stress levels are more likely to drop. With stress out of the way, there is a good chance you will get a good night’s rest. Reading also helps your body wind down and relax before bed. This allows you to fall asleep within a short time and stay asleep.

What Should You Read?

Go for books that;

  • are light
  • don’t leave you traumatized
  • elevate your mood

How Should You Sit/Lay Down While Reading Your Book and Why?

Lay on your back with your head at an incline. Once you do, bend your knees to support the book or a digital device like a laptop. This takes the pressure off your neck, head, or wrists. If reading on the bed is not your thing, use a chair. Sit upright with your feet planted on the flow and your knees bent at 90 degrees. Keep your back straight and maintain a forward head posture.

Is Kindle a Good Option?

Unlike other electronic devices, the kindle produces less artificial blue light. It is a good option because it won’t disrupt your circadian system or cause hormonal imbalances.

Can Having a Strong Light Switched on Deteriorate the Effect?

A strong light is associated with migraine. This can result in poor sleep quality.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
