WHETHER SEX CAN AFFECT SPORTING PERFORMANCE

WHETHER SEX CAN AFFECT SPORTING PERFORMANCE.

According to scientists there is no physiological evidence to suggest that having sex before a sporting competition has any effect on performance. Some studies have even suggested it may help the athletes due to the fact sex raises their testosterone levels.

The two main reasons athletes used to abstain from sex before a sporting event were a fear it would make them more tired and weaker, which has since been dis-proven, and that it may affect their psychological state, which is something that is still being researched.

A lack of sex decreases a persons testosterone levels which actually hinders sporting performance. When it comes to sports the more testosterone flowing around your body the better. Hence why more sex is actually good for sporting performance rather than bad.

Being sexually active has also been linked to a reduction in muscle pain which can be beneficial to athletes. For women in particular sexual stimulation creates a very powerful pain-blocking effect which can help with muscle tiredness or soreness after training.

Sexual activity is also know for reducing the symptoms of anxiety and depression which leads to an overall good general wellness of the individual
