How to Talk to Your Partner About Continuing Your Relationship After Graduation?
From my experiences, here are some tips on how to communicate with your partner to continue the relationship after graduation;
Speak to your partner earlier
I strongly advise you to begin frequent talks with your loved one as early as six months before graduation. Talk about whether you would like to maintain the relationship or not, plan on the type of relationship and engage in deep conversations ore often to work out the way forward after campus.
Evaluate your goals
Share your plans and goals; you can try to compare to determine whether your interests match or not. The conversation can cover where you want to work, live with family, alone or together, and dreams.
Consider a long-distance relationship.
Not all people end up in the same place after school. The chances are high that you might end up in an LDR. Please talk about the likelihood of being in the relationship in distant places and how you feel about it. Discuss how you will communicate, meeting frequency, and other key issues if you agree. Failure to agree on LDR implies that the partnership can end after graduation.
Set realistic future expectations on how things might end up in the future.
Tips for How to Continue These Relationships Healthily?
I recommend you communicate openly about the direction of your relationship; you can consider moving in as a couple if you live in the same city, set boundaries in the relationship, talk about exclusivity, spend time together frequently, gift or surprise your lover, have a couple’s calendar, be ready to embrace change in life aspects, put on the efforts, and commitment for the best of the relationship.
