CALORIES ON MENU

In my personal view, the introduction of calories on menus in restaurants, cafes, and hotels can positively and negatively affect people.

On the positive, it can help people monitor their calorie intake as the government projects to lower obesity cases. People can easily opt for healthy foods or limit their restaurant eating habits. It makes it easier for people to measure daily average calorie intake as they make more educated decisions. Calories on menus can be helpful in that it leaves people to decide on the healthy food choices they make. Restaurants can also provide new foods that are low in calories.

Negatively, the issue of labeling calorie amounts can have less or no impact on regulating obesity or increasing healthy lifestyle habits. Most top restaurants in the UK have clearly stated that they won’t make any amendments to their menus rather than include calorie amounts. This leaves the consumer with the burden to regulate their calorie intake. People might face more pressure on what foods they pick, especially when faced with large crowds, triggering the adoption of new eating behaviors, which is not a good idea. They might opt for their favorite dishes, no matter the calorie content. Though it’s a good strategy to fight obesity and unhealthy lifestyle habits, it can have less significance in society.

I recommend you seek advice from food experts, adopt healthy eating habits that regulate your calorie intake, eat a balanced diet and go for that food you crave once in a while, as not all bad is bad.
