CAN HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS CAUSE HEART RHYTHM DISORDERS?

Research has associated a few supplements and herbs to arrhythmia. For example;

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is a supplement most celebs swear by in reducing stress. But this product has shown to cause arrhythmia in a few case studies. For instance, a 2022 study indicated that a woman aged 73 experienced the condition after use of this supplement, but it stopped after ceasing to take it.

Bitter orange

Researchers link bitter orange can result in arrhythmia. Even the National Institute of Health concludes that it can cause abnormal heartbeat.

Ephedra alkaloids

A study in 2021 demonstrated that taking compounds with ephedrine and ephedra alkaloids can cause arrhythmia. Even the US banned use of the two compounds for causing stroke, heart attack, and death in worst cases.
