I Just Want My Pants Back: Sex Trophies And You

I just want my pants back is an MTV comedy drama that aired in August 2011. It’s a spin on popular TV genre sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother and Friends, as a group of 20-somethings explore love, friendship and sex in Brooklyn, New York. After a one-night stand, the main character, Jason, loses his pants as a sex trophy and goes on a mission to get them back – gaining experience, love and good friends along the way.

That’s all fine and well, warming the cockles of the TV-viewing audience, but it just goes to show that there are some really strange sexual behavioural traits out there. Sex trophies? With 1 in 3 polled viewers reporting that they’ve personally claimed a sex trophy, it’s not as odd as you might think.

A sex trophy is a piece of clothing or an item gained from a sexual encounter as a proof of the conquest. MTV polled their audience to see what people were keeping as sex trophies, if any, and here’s what the stats told them: The most popular sex trophy is a hooded jumper, gaining 15% of votes. Next up: trousers at 14%, knickers at 13%, men’s shirts at 11% and men’s briefs at 12%.

Other unusual items, aside from clothing, include a Buddha statue, and a cook book.

Surprisingly, 45% of respondents reported that they kept a hold of the item because they didn’t want to see the owner again; the item itself was proof of the conquest or one night stand, and that was enough for them! A staggering 38% kept the item for nostalgic reasons, hoping to relive the experience and hold onto their raunchy memories.

Despite never wanting to see the sex trophy’s owner again, 50% of polled viewers reported that, if asked, they would not give them back. Why? Because they were living on the other side of the world, because they held onto the item to remember how they caught their partner cheating on them, and our personal favourite, because they were “using them as cleaning rags”.
