Infradian Rhythm

Infradian Rhythm

The infradian rhythm is the second internal timekeeper experienced only by people with female biochemistry. This less-known biological rhythm is involved in menstrual circle control, which lasts for 28 days. Of course, it works with the hugely popular circadian rhythm, a 24-hour cycle that regulates our sleep-wake patterns.

How the Infradian Rhythm Affects A woman each Month

To understand this, we will look at certain phases of the menstrual cycle.

Follicular Phase

The follicular phase sees the increase of estrogen and progesterone levels, encouraging the follicle development and growth or thickening of the uterus lining. While this is happening in your body, your energy levels stay on top, meaning you can be productive. At this phase, you can book a social event, complete postponed tasks, and tackle complex projects.

Ovulation Phase

During the ovulation phase, the levels of luteinizing hormone increase. Since estrogen and testosterone levels also rise, you are more likely to feel super energetic. This is the best time to book an important meeting, complete group projects, and have sex, especially if you and your partner are looking to start a family.

Luteal Phase

This is the last phase of the menstrual cycle. If you conceive, progesterone levels will continue rising in the luteal phase. If pregnancy does not occur, progesterone levels will rapidly fall, making you mentally and physically weak. This is the best time to prioritize self-care, treat yourself, and complete tasks that are not mentally demanding.
