IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME-min

IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME

What Are the Most Common Signs of IBS

As a physician, take note of the signs below as they can indicate the development of IBS;

•             Regular abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, stomach bloating, or cramping tends to ease after a bowel movement.

•             Changes in your stool, sometimes your poop may seem to appear too loose.

•             At times you get to see mucus in your stool.

•             Irregular changes in the number and time you have a bowel movement.

When to Seek Medical Help

I strongly advise that you visit a doctor when the IBS symptoms such as changes in the bowel movement become persistent or when you experience rectal bleeding, unintended weight loss, frequent diarrhea, problems in swallowing, and constant abdominal pain.

Treatment

The treatment method is usually based on easing the symptoms. The common treatments include;

•             Adding more fiber-giving foods or fiber supplements to your diet.

•             Avoiding meals high in gasses, gluten, and FODMAPS s triggers IBS.

•             Taking tricyclic depressants, laxatives, SSRI antidepressants, Anticholinergic medications, alostren, and Rifaximin.

Mental health expert

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
