What Are the Most Common Signs of IBS
As a physician, take note of the signs below as they can indicate the development of IBS;
• Regular abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, stomach bloating, or cramping tends to ease after a bowel movement.
• Changes in your stool, sometimes your poop may seem to appear too loose.
• At times you get to see mucus in your stool.
• Irregular changes in the number and time you have a bowel movement.
When to Seek Medical Help
I strongly advise that you visit a doctor when the IBS symptoms such as changes in the bowel movement become persistent or when you experience rectal bleeding, unintended weight loss, frequent diarrhea, problems in swallowing, and constant abdominal pain.
Treatment
The treatment method is usually based on easing the symptoms. The common treatments include;
• Adding more fiber-giving foods or fiber supplements to your diet.
• Avoiding meals high in gasses, gluten, and FODMAPS s triggers IBS.
• Taking tricyclic depressants, laxatives, SSRI antidepressants, Anticholinergic medications, alostren, and Rifaximin.
