METABOLISM

METABOLISM

Metabolism occurs differently in all individuals, with some having a slower and others faster rate. Metabolic rate refers to the processes involved in converting food to energy and might be impacted by several body chemicals.

As women age, their body metabolism slows down. Women over 50 have a slower metabolism than younger ones as the hormonal changes increase fat deposition or storage while increasing lean muscle loss. The reduced physical activities lower the number of calories we burn, contributing to weight gain and slow metabolism. Menopause in women can contribute to a decline in the metabolic rate as more fat is stored in the belly due to low levels of estrogen hormones.

Most ladies over 50 can find it challenging to lose weight due to the changes in hormones after menopause and the slow metabolism.

How women over 50 can boost metabolism

I recommend you engage in strength training exercises to build lean muscles, boost metabolism, and enhance calorie burning. Add more lean protein foods to increase satiety and speed up the formation of muscle mass. Ensure you take healthy breakfasts daily to boost metabolism throughout the day. Eating chili peppers and green tea can also speed up your metabolism as you age.

I also suggest limiting your intake of processed foods, alcohol consumption, and fried meats or other fried foods.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
