MINDFULNESS IN THE BEDROOM

MINDFULNESS IN THE BEDROOM

  • How can mindfulness be applied to sex?

Mindful sex is when you make a conscious decision to be in the moment. You train your brain to be fully present and your senses are heightened to experience new things. There is no goal with mindful sex, it’s all abut being in the moment.

  • What are the benefits of mindfulness during sex?

When you’re mindful during sex you whole experience changes. Your senses are heightened and you become aware of how your body is responding to different stimulus.

  • What are some signs that you and your partner might want to focus more on being mindful during sex?

If when you have sex you’re constantly thinking about other things and letting your mind wander that is a sign that you’re not being mindful during sex. The connection with your partner may also not be very strong.

  • Please list at least 3-5 tips on how to improve/practice mindfulness during sex.

Tip One: Clear your mind before you have sex. Meditation can help with this. If your mind is too busy before you begin it won’t be able to focus on the sensations you’re feeling.

Tip Two: Discuss mindful sex with your partner. Tell then that you’d like to start practicing mindful sex and explain to them what it is. If you’re both on the same page when it comes to sex the experience will be much more enjoyable.

Tip Three: Get rid of all distractions. Turn off your phone and TV and make sure you won’t be disturbed. The aim is to focus completely on each other and the experience. Minimize or eradicate anything that can distract you from this.

Tip Four: Don’t forget to breathe. A steady breathing rhythm can help to relax your mind and your body allowing you to become more susceptible to new experiences. Practice relaxing breathing by taking a few long and deep breathes in and out before you begin.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
