SEEKING SEX EXPERTS TO TALK ABOUT FOOT JOBS

Would love to chat with a sex educator (or therapist) about foot jobs–what are they? How do they work? Are there any health risks involved?

A foot job is when a person uses their feet rather than their hands to stimulate the penis. Although foot jobs are mainly considered a tool for stimulating a penis they can also be for stimulating a vagina and clitoris. Think of it like a hand job but using your feet instead.

To perform a foot job you need to place your feet either side of the penis and then move your feet up and down along the shaft. I’d always advise using lots of lube to ensure a smooth experience. Foot jobs are especially popular with people who have foot fetishes or podophilia. The best way to perform a foot job is to place the soles of each foot against the penis rather than the side of the feet. This makes it feel more like a vagina.

Good core strength is helpful as the movement requires a degree of muscle power especially if you want to continue with it until ejaculation. Good coordination is also a plus as you will need to keep your feet together and get into a rhythmic flow.

Although you don’t have to worry about pregnancy with foot play there are some others things you may wantot consider in terms of health and staying safe.

Unlike some other forms of sexual play, you don’t have to worry about pregnancy. But foot play isn’t without its possible risks.

You can still pass on an STI through foot play as you are coming into contact with a persons genitals. STI’s like herpies, papillomavirus (HPV) and syphilis can be spread through skin to skin contact.

You also want to be aware of skin infections like molluscumcontagiosum that cause legions on the skin. Impetigo and athletes foot are other highly contagious skin infection to look out for. Make sure both partners are clean and had a shower before engaging in foot play to minimise the risk of bacteria spreading. Any cuts should be covered with a plaster.
