SYMPTOMS OF HYPOTHYROIDISM

SYMPTOMS OF HYPOTHYROIDISM

What initial signs may emerge at the onset of hypothyroidism?

They include;

Fatigue

Fatigue is among the earliest hypothyroidism signs. The thyroid gland regulates energy in the body. For instance, the brain signals the thyroid hormone to coordinate cells to functions as expected. Therefore, people with less thyroid hormone possibly feel worn out and sluggish, whereas those with more production become jittery.

Muscle and joint weakness

Hypothyroidism can cause catabolism, whereby the body starts obtaining energy from its tissues. It leads to muscle decline, weakness, and pain. While everyone can feel weak at some point, people with this condition feel weaker consistently.

Weight gain

Hypothyroidism can cause unexpected increase in weight because it makes people less active, making their fat and muscle tissues to retain calories. Again, low thyroid hormone production alters metabolism leading to decrease in basal metabolic rate. It makes the body hold on to calories, storing them as fat. The same may happen despite limited caloric intake. But if you gain weight unexpectedly, I recommend counterchecking your lifestyle to determine any changes that could cause it. Or, suppose your exercise plan and diet change is not helping, reach out to a specialist for more guidelines.

Additionally, I’d like to know what preventive measures exist for the condition.

Well, it may be hard to prevent this condition. But the best thing is to watch out for any alarms; the earlier you notice the symptoms and seek treatment, the better it will be to manage. If you have the condition, consult your doctor on what diet is great for your problem. You can eat eggs, iodized salt, dairy products, and poultry or seafood to raise your iodine levels.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
