THE EFFECT LONELINESS HAS ON OUR PHYSICAL HEALTH

Loneliness may have the following influences;

It can cause high blood pressure

Researchers link loneliness to high blood pressure. Loneliness can cause stress, which may result in increased natural steroids content that can raise cholesterol and blood pressure. This can also increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Poor sleep or too much sleep

Research suggests that lonely people are likely to have sleep issues. Loneliness may not disrupt the whole night’s sleep amount, but can mainly reduce it by the number of times one wakes up, called micro-awakenings. On the other hand, lonely people, especially sad ones may counter their emotions by excessive sleeping.

Social anxiety

Too much loneliness can make you feel exhausted or emotionally drained after socializing with people. Such people find it hard to attend social functions because they may be forced to socialize, thus finding it taxing to their energy.

My goal is to help people improve their health and well-being without torturing themselves with unnecessary dietary restrictions. I am a supporter of a healthy lifestyle – I play sports, cycle, and swim in the lake all year round. With my work, I have been featured in Vice, Country Living, Harrods magazine, Daily Telegraph, Grazia, Women's Health, and other media outlets.
