THE LESSER-KNOWN SIGNS OF FATTY LIVER DISEASE

THE LESSER-KNOWN SIGNS OF FATTY LIVER DISEASE

Here are some warning signs that might indicate you have fatty liver disease;

  • Frequent abdominal or stomach pain.
  • Constant fullness feelings, especially on the top or right side of the stomach.
  • Jaundice or development of pale or whiter eyes.
  • Extreme body weakness.
  • Increased mental conditions, swollen legs, and yellow skin conditions.

Why They Develop

Fatty liver diseases can be caused by eating foods high in sugars, unhealthy fats, excessive alcohol drinking, obese or overweight conditions, effects of certain medications such as steroids, amiodarone, and existing metabolic syndrome like insulin resistance, hypertension, excess amounts of bad cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.

You can opt for liver biopsy, FibroScan, or Ultrasound diagnosis to spot the fatty liver disease.

What to do

With no exact cure for fatty liver disease currently, I recommend you try losing some weight or belly fat, limit your alcohol consumption, opt for medications that can aid in diabetes or cholesterol management, and engage in exercise regularly.

I believe that nutrition science is a wonderful helper both for the preventive improvement of health and adjunctive therapy in treatment. My goal is to help people improve their health and well-being without torturing themselves with unnecessary dietary restrictions. I am a supporter of a healthy lifestyle – I play sports, cycle, and swim in the lake all year round. With my work, I have been featured in Vice, Country Living, Harrods magazine, Daily Telegraph, Grazia, Women's Health, and other media outlets.
