Midsummer celebrations, earlier called St. John’s holiday, was created in honor of Saint John the Baptist. Unfortunately, the man was beheaded for having a great influence through leading people in supporting Christ Jesus.But the traditions remained in place. It involves wearing traditional Swedish folk outfits, church boat racing, and professional dancing and folk music. Currently, the celebrations mainly are for inviting the summertime and fertility season. Farmers recognize the midsummer festivities as the period when crops were looking fabulous and promising, making them anticipate their fruitful harvest. Everyone else marks the celebrations by watching the sunrise, bathing in water, and creating bonfires.
