As a dermatologist, I strongly advise you to avoid these two skincare ingredients as they trigger skin dryness and wrinkles;
Benzoyl peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide is widely used in treating acne due to its antibacterial properties and efficiency in clearing clogged pored, or dead skin. However, this ingredient has harmful side effects like irritation, dehydration and redness, especially in people with dry skin. I recommend you use less harsh skin care products like those with sulphur ingredients to address acne and lower skin dehydration or wrinkles.
Alcohols
Alcohol is found in skin care products in ethanol, ethyl or methanol. These ingredients are used to clear oil from pores but might have side effects that cause wrinkles or dry skin. Alcohol ingredients leave an itching sensation and increase skin redness and moisture loss, leading to wrinkles or drier skin. Ideal alternatives entail using products containing cetyl or stearyl alcohols due to their emulsifying properties that can increase skin hydration.
