Research suggests that eating heavier breakfast can induce more weight loss and reduced waist circumference. Heavier breakfast can also reduce ghrelin, insulin, and daily glucose unlike the outcome after eating a heavy dinner. The body works with an internal clock that regulates hormones and other physiological responses to increase optimal function and health. Breakfast meals allow enough time for the body to digest before we head to sleep. Letting your body do a lot of work at night can disrupt its physiology, including sleep alteration and overeating. I always tell my clients to time their meals to allow the body work well with the circadian rhythm, such as, eating heavier breakfast and lighter dinner.
