What Is CBD Isolate And Whole Plant Hemp CBD Oil? What’s The Difference?

CBD isolate, and the whole plant hemp comes from one plant; cannabis. Their main difference is that CBD isolate is pure and does not contain all the cannabis components like the whole-plant hemp oil.

Some of the issues discussed in this article include; the difference between the CBD isolate and full-spectrum CBD oil, ways of using the two types of CBD, and their effectiveness. Cannabidiol exists in three types; full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate. Full-spectrum is also referred to as the whole-plant hemp CBD oil. Though they are both cannabinoids, they have a lot of differences. The whole plant CBD oil as an extract contains all compounds found in the cannabis plant. Such compounds include terpenes, THC, and other compounds. CBD isolate, on the other hand, is pure and does not have any components from cannabis plants.

CBD Isolate

It is the purest form of cannabidiol. It does not have any presence of the cannabis plant. Lachenmeier et al. (2019) examined that CBD isolate is gotten from the hemp plant, which has very few traces of THC, the psychoactive component. They are mostly found in the crystal form but sometimes change to powder when grounded. This is why it is often referred to as CBD crystals. They are known not to be as effective as the rest of the cannabinoids. This is because they have undergone several processes to remove the cannabis components and make them pure. To be pure, they undergo many processes to remove unnecessary components such as the THC and terpenes. Some of the processes that it goes through include;

  • Decarboxylation
  • Winterization
  • Filtration
  • Solvent removal
  • Distillation

At times the final product may have two isolate extracts; the solvent extract and the CBD isolate. However, the solvent extract is not considered an isolate as it may have small traces of the hemp plant. The CBD isolate extract is more refined as it has undergone all the processes to make them pure. Most people prefer using the CBD isolate because it cannot make a person high as it does not have the presence of the psychoactive ingredient, THC, not even in small amounts as some are sensitive to it. It cannot even appear in the drug test.

Whole Plant Hemp CBD Oil

It is also referred to as full-spectrum CBD oil. It is considered to be the most effective type of cannabidiol. They have a greater effect as compared to the CBD isolate. This is because it has the presence of all the other components found in cannabis plants. It has a lot of benefits in the human body compared to the others as it has all the components. THC levels are high in full-spectrum CBD and can get high. It can even rise when the CBD is changed into an extract. Marinotti & Sarill (2020) explained that the benefits of the full spectrum CBD are more effective than the CBD isolate.

Difference between CBD Isolate and Full-Spectrum CBD

The difference between the full-spectrum CBD and the CBD isolate depends on the contents that each cannabidiol has. Jin et al. (2021) suggested that the full spectrum CBD has all the components found in the cannabis plant. Some of these compounds are terpenes, flavonoids, and THC. The effects of full-spectrum CBD are greater than the CBD isolate. This is because of every compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD isolate efficiency is not that great because they have undergone many processes to ensure that it is pure and does not have any compound from the cannabis plant.

How to Use the CBD Isolate and the Full-Spectrum CBD

According to Lundquist (2022), CBD has three types; full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate. CBD products can be used in many forms. Some of these forms include;

Edibles

Edibles are known to be sweeteners and are taken orally. They may include; cakes, gummies, sweets, and cookies and may even be put into beverages and drinks. The CBD products can be put into capsules and tablets.

Vapes

CBD isolate and full-spectrum CBD can be used as inhalants. CBD isolate in powdered form can be inhaled, and its effects will still be felt. The powder can be put into the cartridges, and one can enjoy the feeling of smoking without even getting the high effect.

Tinctures

Tinctures can be taken orally through drinks and beverages or sublingually. This means that they can be placed under the mouth, and the mucous membranes will absorb the CBD product. This method is the best and most effective as it does not need to pass through the lungs.

Topicals

They exist in different forms. They include creams, balms, and lotions. They are applied to the skin, and their effects are felt when CBD products interact with the endocannabinoid system, sending signals through their receptors and regulating the body’s functions.

Which Is More Effective Between Full-Spectrum And CBD Isolate?

For one to know the type of CBD type that is more efficient, one needs to know its components. Both are efficient; however, the potency of the full spectrum is higher than that of CBD isolate. This is because it has all the components found in the cannabis plant. Its effects will not take time to be felt as compared to CBD isolate. Almost all the CBD types are positioned to give out the same benefits. This is because they come from the same plant but have different components. However, this does not mean that the CBD isolate does not affect an individual; its effects may not be as fast as one would wish.

Conclusion

The main difference between the full-spectrum CBD and the CBD isolate is that one has all the components of its parent plant while the other is pure and free from the compounds. The CBD isolate and the full-spectrum CBD oil relies on the individual’s preference. CBD products have flooded the markets because of the benefits they have on them. Most who use the CBD isolate do not want to experience the entourage effect or do not fancy the consumption of the THC compound. Some opt for it because of its medicinal value and benefits. However, those who do not mind the THC compound can always use the full-spectrum CBD oil and may have a better chance of getting the effects faster than those for CBD isolate.
