I Feel So Fat Today

What’s Wrong with The Phrase ‘I Feel So Fat Today’?

As a licensed therapist, I find this phrase inappropriate because it means you see fatness as a disability. It also communicates that you seek outside opinions about your body or body size.

What’s Wrong with The Phrase ‘That’s Not Very Flattering on You?” (Referencing Clothing)

This phrase shows that some clothing (think; short skirts or bodycon dresses) does not look cute on your fat or plus-sized friend or loved one. It irks me to see most people bowing to society’s plus-size fashion rules. Let us break the rules, fat babes!

What’s Wrong with The Phrase, ‘You’re Not Fat, You’re Beautiful!’

This phrase communicates that fatness and beauty cannot take the same space. Hands up if you have never seen a beautiful or handsome plus-size person.

“Don’t You Think That Is a Large Portion of Food?”

While most people think this statement helps their plus-sized friend or loved one, that is not the case. The truth is the phrase is judgmental. Let them eat the amount that can satisfy their feelings of hunger. How does your friend’s body or body size affect you in the first place?

“I am Afraid You Can’t Run”

Who said you cannot be overweight or obese and physically fit? Let us get out of this line of thinking, please.
