ENDOMETRIOSIS

DIET TO HELP WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS

Endometriosis symptoms mainly worsen with increased estrogen levels and inflammation. Therefore, I recommend the below food that help reduce the two;

Fiber foods

While estrogen is important for normal functioning, excessive amounts of the hormone can exacerbate pain and cramping. Estrogen is best excreted through stool. This suggests having easy bowel movement. The levels may worsen if you have constipation, and to counter this, I tell my clients to maximize on fiber filling foods, including vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.

Healthy fats

Being an inflammatory disease, endometriosis gets worse with inflammation. Fortunately, bettering our diet, makes a difference. Eating healthy fats, mainly omega-3 can reduce inflammation. The sources include flaxseed, nuts, and fatty fish, such as salmon and tuna. Monounsaturated fats like avocadoes, olive oil, and sunflower, also contain anti-inflammatory properties.

Avoiding highly processed foods

Did you know that many processed foods are made with formulations that trigger inflammation? Packaged foods having sweetened sugar, trans-fats, and saturated fats are dangerous. I advise people to limit their intake to prevent added calories and more inflammatory risks.
