Fruit juice
Fruit juice contains large amounts of sugar with a high glycemic index- rate of sugar absorption in blood, which increases blood sugar after consumption. While it may be good for people with hypoglycemia, frequently consuming fruit juices can lead to weight gain. The high sugar concentration raises hunger and craving for higher caloric foods, a factor that contributes to gaining weight.
Artificial sweeteners
Many drinks and foods with additives and preservatives contain almost zero nutrients but supply numerous calories. The additives include chemicals and sugars that possibly reduce metabolism and boost fat deposition in the body. As a result, an individual’s size and weight increases. Some people think such drinks are less damaging if you have diabetes, but that is not right. I usually advise my colleagues and clients to choose natural sweeteners and in moderation.
Potatoes
Potatoes are natural and nutritious, but they are readily digested and absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, thus spiking blood sugar. The worst you can do with potatoes is frying them. Researchers suggest that frying method produces carcinogenic compounds that cause belly fat.
