Glimmers

Glimmers

If you are a social media consumer (TikTok user), I bet you already know what we are talking about. Because I want us to move together, I will give an introduction. Glimmers are small moments that make us feel joyful and safe. They can be anything: listening to your favorite song, applying perfume, or eating your favorite meal.

How Do Glimmers Work?

Have you heard of the ventral vagal system? Popularly known as the social engagement system, the ventral vagal system is a system that, when activated, makes us feel calm. Glimmers are one of the things that activate our ventral vagal system.

What About Triggers?

Triggers are the opposite of glimmers. They are smells, sounds, or people that breed feelings of anxiety, panic, despair, and discouragement.

How To Use Glimmers

  • Listen to music that calms your mind
  • Go for a walk
  • Stay around people with positive energy
  • Steer clear of social media accounts that don’t bring peace to you

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
