HAPPY HORMONES

Serotonin

Serotonin reacts with brain receptors to regulate mood, learning ability, digestion, memory, and sleep.

Endorphins

The body requires endorphins in instances of pain because the hormones has pain killing properties. It also needed for stress relief or discomfort.

Oxytocin

Oxytocin plays a big role in delivery, lactation, and bonding. The hormone also helps promote trust and bonding in love relationships.

Dopamine

Dopamine is a feel good hormone linked to pleasurable emotions. It is also associated with learning and memory.

To increase production of these hormones, do the following;

Exercise

Exercise is significant in promoting general wellness. It leads to a euphoric feeling, especially because physical activity or working out increases production of endorphins. If you have heard of a ‘runner’s high’, then that is it. If you are a regular exerciser, serotonin and dopamine levels may also increase in your body.

Laugh

Laughter is a medicine that can treat mood.  It can enhance your spirits by increasing endorphins and dopamine release, which helps release tension and anxiety. Therefore, interact with friends or events that make you laugh, including comedy shows or funny videos to reap the benefits.

Meditate

Research suggests that mediation helps improve sleep and reduce tension. It is due to high dopamine levels when we meditate.
