Red flag headache warning signs

Headaches occasionally come and most people usually bear it or use pain relievers and wait for relief. But what if the pain persists? I always recommend seeking immediate medical attention in case you experience any unusual signs. For example, you may be having a headache with a serious underlying condition that needs proper intervention to determine. Let us look at the red flags below;

Headache with a stiff neck or fever

If you have a headache with stiff neck or fever that does not go away with usual solutions, it could be a sign of meningitis or encephalitis; brain inflammation and inflammation on the brain’s membrane respectively. It can happen to people with diabetes or have weaker immunity, increasing susceptibility to infections. It requires immediate therapy with intravenous antibiotics.

Headache following a head trauma

A headache after a traumatic event on the head could imply a concussion, which needs immediate medical attention. Even the smallest impact can possibly cause bleeding in the brain that threatens life.

Headache with temporary blindness

A headache with vision loss of temporary blindness potentially come with ocular migraine. It could suggest a potential retina spasm that brings vision disturbances. It is best to alert the doctor promptly in case this happens.
