DIFFERENT TYPES OF HEADACHES

Migraine

Migraine headache comes with pain pulsating deeper in the head. It brings throbbing pain on one side of the head and makes people more sensitive to sound or light. Another sign is visual problems, including zigzag lines, blind spots, and flashing lights. I recommend taking over the counter drugs, such as ibuprofen. If they do not treat the symptoms, triptans can manage inflammation. Preventive medications, such as amitriptyline and propranolol also help enhance life quality.

Thunderclap headache

This is a headache with extreme pain occurring for a few seconds with peak intensity. The condition is rare, and may be a symptom of a life-threatening illness that needs immediate medication. Its symptoms include confusion, seizures, speech issues, and numbness. Treatment may include surgery for repairing raptured blood vessels. Suppose the headache’s cause is not connected to another urgent illness, medication is administered for treatment.

Hormone headache

Hormone headaches mostly happen to about 60% of women, relating to estrogen changes. When female hormone levels drop, immediately before they begin menstruating, they are likely to experience this type of headache. The symptoms include exhaustion, fever, pale skin, appetite loss, tender scalp, and light sensitivity. They can be treated using anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Naproxen, Ketoprofen, and Fenoprofen. Triptans may also be administered.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
