HARMFUL INGREDIENTS

HELPFUL + HARMFUL INGREDIENTS IN DEODORANTS AND ANTIPERSPIRANTS

Aluminum compounds

Aluminum compounds, include aluminum chlorohydrate, and aluminum hydroxybromid, which highly contribute to the effectiveness of most antiperspirants and deodorants. The compounds enter the epidermis and fill the cells with water, making them bigger. As a result, these cells reduce the size of the ducts used in releasing sweat to the outside. Nevertheless, studies suggest that aluminum can cause neurodegeneration and lead to Alzheimer’s disease. Some critics also link aluminum based deodorants to breast cancer, but more research is required for more clarification.

Other ingredients

Humectant propylene gycol, diethanolamine, and triethanolamine are ingredients in deodorants that improve sweat related issues. For instance, Humectant propylene gycol helps keep the deodorant from drying out, and the other two are for pH control. However, such are the formulations possibly causing irritation to your sensitive skin.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
