BEFORE WORKOUT

HOW TO GET ENERGY BEFORE A WORKOUT

Would you say lack of energy is the main reason why people don’t want to workout?

As a fitness expert, lack of energy is among the common excuses people have for their failure to exercise hence can be one of the main reasons. Other reasons why people fail to workout are time issues, lack of support or exercising options, laziness, decreased motivation towards achieving your fitness goals, inadequate equipment and cost.

Why might someone’s energy be low?

There are several things that lead to decreased energy levels such as high stress, failure to get adequate sleep, consuming poor diets that lack energy giving foods, lack of physical activities or extreme exercising, effects of some medications, nutrient deficiency, and living a sedentary lifestyle.

Ways to boost energy before a workout

I recommend the following effective tips when looking to increase your energy levels before exercising;

Snack on healthy foods

Eating a banana, oatmeal, dry fruits, yogurt, chia seeds or boiled eggs can provide the body with the needed energy pre-workout. They are high in proteins, carbs, antioxidants, healthy fats and other nutrients which aid in stabilizing blood sugar, fuel the body cells to keep you going throughout the session.

Drink caffeinated beverages

Caffeine can instantly boost your energy levels due to its fast acting stimulating effects. you can get caffeine from coffee, sport or energy drinks and tea.

Take energy supplements

Most energy boosting supplements contain fast acting stimulants that can immensely give you the needed energy to get you pumped when working out.

Warmup

Warming up with simple activities such a stretching, pushups, yoga, or squatting can open up the body muscles, lower lethargy feelings, boost metabolism, and increase brain performance which tend to add up your energy levels.
