MANAGING ECZEMA

The key to managing eczema is finding ways to prevent flares and reduce atopic dermatitis. You can do this by soothing inflammation and reducing itchiness through the methods below;

Apply favorable moisturizers

Moisturizing products may include gels, creams, and shea butter. I always recommend the ones lacking fragrances, alcohols, and dyes for the skin’s safety. You can use ointments because of their greasy nature. Apply 2-3 times every day and give it proper time for absorption before wearing clothes.

No scratching

Is the condition too tempting to scratch, and you cannot overcome? Well, I always tell my clients to never scratch because it might worsen the situation. I usually emphasize on patting or pressing the itchy area. Other tips include enclosing the place or keeping short nails. For kids, ensure their nails are short.

Take an anti-itch or anti-allergy

Suppose the itching is excessive, you can use antihistamines, including fexofenadine or cetirizine. Some antihistamines need precaution when taking because they may cause drowsiness, such as, diphenhydramine.
