Recovery from Stroke

Recovery from Stroke

As a credentialed MD, I am often asked, “how long can someone take to bounce back after a stroke?” My answer is always simple; there is no set recovery time after a stroke. While others bounce back after weeks, others can take months or even years. The good news is that you can shorten your recovery time. How?

Exercise-But in Moderation

Exercise and physical activity are important after a stroke. When you stay physically fit, you are less likely to develop another stroke. The bad news is that going overboard with exercise is a recipe for injuries that might slow your recovery from a stroke.

Practice healthy Eating

One undisputed fact is that you lose a lot of neurons when a stroke attacks. To recover quickly, you may need foods that promote neurogenesis. These include legumes, walnuts, spinach, blueberries, olive oil, Mackerel, hemp and salmon.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

A good night’s sleep restores neuroplasticity. As a stroke patient, this helps you regain your memory and learning abilities.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
