TRAVEL HEALTH AND SUNCARE

Community pharmacies play an immense role in advising and supplying the right products to travelers to ensure safe journeys and holidays. Here are some products and tips for a pharmacist that they can give to travelers this summer;

I highly advise or recommend that pharmacies have regular meetings with their team or staff to communicate what should be included in the traveler’s checklist in advance. For instance, they should inform their frequent customers. The latter is about to travel on the need to get a hepatitis vaccination six months before the travel date and the need for anti-malarial and insect repellant vaccines.

Pharmacies need to advise travelers on what to include in their first aid kits when traveling. Products such as preventive medications for nausea, colds, heartburns, and diarrheal are essential.

When it comes to skincare, pharmacies should emphasize the need for wearing sunscreen of SPF 15 or a 4-star ultraviolet rays protection. For efficient sun protection, I recommend that pharmacies be equipped with the latest inventions from high-profile brands. In addition, the pharmacies should emphasize the importance of wearing protective clothing and staying under a shade from 11 am to 3 pm to prevent skin damage by the UV rays.

Pharmacies should advise their travelers on the need to have adequate medications to last for the whole vacation. They should talk about the need for skin protection for kids, water cleansing pills, how to carry and store the medications, the type of drugs prohibited in certain countries, and the right products on their shelves for each condition.

The work of a family doctor includes a wide range of clinical diversity, which requires extensive knowledge and erudition from a specialist. However, I believe that the most important thing for a family doctor is to be human because the cooperation and understanding between the doctor and the patient are crucial in ensuring successful health care. On my days off, I love being in nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about playing chess and tennis. Whenever I have time off, I enjoy traveling around the world.
