Lube

What Is Lube, And What Does It Do

Lube is a special liquid or gel mostly used behind closed doors. Also known as personal lubricants, lubes are applied around the vaginal opening, around the anus, or on the penis. This makes penetrative and anal sex safer and more pleasurable. Did you know you can also use lube when making love alone? Spare your spit, please. If you have sex toys or are planning to get some, remember some lubricants are not compatible with certain sex toy materials.

The types of lubricants include silicon-based lube, water-based lube, and oil-based lube. If you have silicon sex toys or are planning to add some to your stockpile or erotic delicacies, you may want to steer clear of silicon-based lube. This lube is dangerous to the lifespan of your sex toy and your general safety. Silicone-based lubes are only compatible with hard toy materials, including ceramic, wood, hard plastic, and glass.

If you want to use protection next time you get intimate, remember that oil-based lubes are not fine with latex condoms. Oil-based lubes can make your latex condom break while thrusting into your partner, increasing the risk of STI and unwanted pregnancies. Other types of lubricants are compatible with latex condoms. Because there are tons of non-latex condoms out there, the beef between latex condoms and oil-based lubes should not hinder you from enjoying safe sex.
