HATE-WATCH TV SHOWS

WHY IT’S SO FUN TO HATE-WATCH TV SHOWS

As a mental health expert, several psychological reasons make us happy when hate-watching TV shows. People tend to feel pleasure when they negatively comment or talk about TV shows and source mutual hatred from various pages on social media. As you watch, seeing tweets, posts, or videos mocking the show can make you feel better as your beliefs are supported. Hating TV shows can make individuals change how they view themselves as they release their inner hatred of the characters, the show’s quality, or other fictional and unrealistic twists that help them feel better. Hate-watching TV shows can induce a kind of satisfaction to curb our insecurities when we see other people doing well in life. People use it as a channel of escaping the reality of their life situations and a way of scapegoating their negative moods or energy.

Is this a waste of time? Should we be doing something else?

In my opinion, hate-watching TV shows is a waste of time as you focus more on the negative side, which can make you pessimistic in life, worsen anxiety, low or negative moods, and make you feel more miserable, especially when it turns to a habit.

I recommend you watch films you love, TV shows you are passionate about, or one that inspires you. Change your hate watches to love watches to be more optimistic in life or other alternative channels to project your negativity and change how we judge others, as no human is perfect.
