If you are looking to manage high blood pressure, I recommend the following lifestyle changes for the better;
Regular exercise
Keeping fit is a lifetime remedy to almost all illnesses. To achieve it, it is best to exercise frequently. If you want your blood pressure at normal levels, I recommend at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise at least thrice every day. It would help if you combine aerobics and strength trainings, such as walking, dancing, weight lifting, or swimming. You can find a personal trainer if you lack a clue of how to go about your routine.
Limit salt intake
High sodium intake can ruin your pressure levels after some time of accumulation in the body. Foods, such as, baked goods and highly processed products contain excessive salt and sugar content. Therefore, consuming them in excess can alter your blood pressure and cause hypertension. Researchers suggest that you should reduce your salt intake to a minimum of 1500 mg in one day. To achieve this, I recommend the following practices;
- Avoid salt shakes at the table
- Minimize on highly processed foods
- Check food labels to ensure the amount eaten has lower salt content.
Healthy and balanced diet
On a scale of 1-10, what can you say is your diet rating? A healthy diet can carry vegetables, fruits, low fat dairy, and whole grains. I always advise my clients to consider a Mediterranean diet, which is proven healthy and favorable for managing various conditions. When talking about high blood pressure specifically, I recommend foods with potassium because it helps lessen blood pressure impacts in the body. You can get them in leafy greens and fruits.
