HOW TO COPE WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS BURNOUT

Patients with chronic illnesses possibly experience burnout because of reasons, including hopelessness, prolonged stress from the condition, or emotions of losing control over the illness. It may also be worse for patients who are inactive physically because they may lose muscle mass.

How to cope

Stay away from stressors

The best favor you can give yourself is staying stress free. But how can you do this? I recommend avoiding conversations that do not add value to your life. Any toxic friends or family members are worth eliminating from your space. Get out of negative vibes as much as you can. Remember, even negative thoughts do not deserve your attention.

Retain good company only

If your spirit is burnt out, you can best refuel it by having great people around you. Only have those that inspire you through the illness, listen to you, and make you see happiness despite what your health condition. They should be people you can call or text anytime for venting without shame.

Improve your self-care tips

Some people misunderstand self-care, probably because they think it is being selfish. But they fail to understand that without self-care, it will be hard to care for others. It is best to hydrate, eat healthy, sleep, and exercise regularly, before thinking about others. This way, your health will be improved and spirits enhanced for a better life.
