PERIMENOPAUSE

PERIMENOPAUSE

1.) What causes perimenopause?

Perimenopause is mainly caused by hormonal changes. For instance, a rise in estrogen levels can result in symptoms related to PMS. But a fall in the level can cause night sweats and hot flushes.

2.) What are the risk factors for early perimenopause?

Cancer treatment

Research associates chemotherapy with early perimenopause. The same applies to cancer treatment using pelvic radiation therapy.

Family history

If your family has a history of this condition, you may get the symptoms earlier- women.

Hysterectomy

Through hysterectomy- eliminates the uterus but not ovaries, you are unlikely to experience menopause. While menses may never appear, estrogen production will continue, and possibly cause menopause symptoms to occur earlier than expected.

3.) When should a patient contact their doctor?

I recommend consulting a doctor when you notice any related symptoms, including hot flashes, sexual function changes, and mood swings. Please avoid overlooking any changes because hormonal fluctuation transitions gradually, making it hard to notice the condition at the beginning.
