SIGNS THAT YOU ARE BEING GASLIT

SIGNS THAT YOU ARE BEING GASLIT

Signs that you are the victim of gaslighting

From my career experiences, here are common gaslighting signs and phrases to take note off;

You often question, doubt, or second guess anything you do from memories to reality; you distrust yourself in any circumstance.

You experience overwhelming and persistent self-doubt thoughts or feelings that also manipulate you.

You are always on the wrong side or get blamed by your partner for their acts. They fail to apologize even when on the wrong side; instead, they justify their behaviors by coming up with fairy tales.

Your partner frequently lies to you, though you know the truth. In some cases, your lover sticks with the false statements to change your thoughts as they know you are easy to break down.

You lack trust in all life sectors.

You always view yourself as the wrongdoer.

You feel isolated, confused, sensitive, powerless, insecure, and vulnerable.

Some common phrases that indicate someone is gaslighting you include;

You are so dramatic and like creating things in your head.

You’re out of your mind, and what you just said doesn’t exist or never happened.

Common gaslighting techniques

Reality distortion

This involves an individual lying to another person that what they say or do is wrong or false while knowing they are doing what’s right.

Trivializing

It is common in relationships where one partner tends to dismiss or ignore partner B’s opinions, thoughts, feelings, or emotions by terming them less important.

Name-calling

It’s a gaslighting behavior where the gaslighter calls the victims malicious names that they see suit their habits, mindset, or behaviors to induce feelings that the victim deserves what they feel.
