Study Findings

What Are Your Thoughts About the Study/Findings?

A diet high in ultra-processed foods carries too many sugars, sodium, and fat into your body. This spells trouble for your health. So, as a credentialled dietician, I am not surprised when highly processed foods are linked to colon cancer.

How Might Ultra-Processed Food Increase the Risk of Colon Cancer?

Ultra-processed foods are home to refined starch, added sugars, and unhealthy fats. When you eat large amounts of these foods, you are more likely to compromise your waistline. You and I know obesity and weight gain are precursors of colon cancer.

It Was Also Found That “There Was Not an Increased Risk for Women Who Consumed Higher Amounts of Ultra-Processed Foods. Why is that?

I think it is because obesity, metabolic hormones, and sex hormones affect men and women differently.

What Are Some Examples of Popular Ultra-Processed Foods That People Should Avoid?

  • Pizza
  • Sugary beverages
  • Candies
  • Pastries
  • Margarine
