GIRL WORKOUTS

GYM ANXIETY AND SHY GIRL WORKOUTS

1. Other than shy girl workouts, what are other tips for managing gym anxiety?

Consider hiring a professional

A personal trainer can help achieve your fitness goals with a lot of confidence. They can prevent injuries by giving the right exercise forms and developing the right routine. Also, they may access and track your progress, helping identify areas that require rectification.

Slow is the key

I always tell my clients to start slowly. For instance, instead of doing all workouts that include weight lifting for all body parts, why not run on the treadmill for 10 or 20 minutes? This way, your body can adapt slowly and you will find yourself doing better after some time.

Other tips include

  • Find support by working out with a friend or relative.
  • Try meditation and deep breathing techniques, which can lower cortisol levels and reduce stress.
  • Find the right coping motivation to keep you going.

2. Why might someone experience gym anxiety, especially more so now?

  • It may be because you just started exercising ever since childhood, making you feel intimidated.
  • Perhaps you just switched gyms and now finding it hard to adjust; familiarizing with equipment, changing your routine, or getting a locker.
  • Trouble in using new machines or equipment that cause problems in learning how to use.

3. Is there a point where “shy girl workouts” are a form of avoidance that can worsen anxiety? If so, what are signs to look for, and what next steps do you recommend?

The signs include;

  • If you find it hard to join group sessions.
  • Feeling intimidated after seeing people in better shape than you.
  • Anxious about gaining upper body muscles like a well-reaped gym guy.

I recommend the following;

  • Working out from home can reduce anxiety because it give you space and peace required to concentrate. You can use fitness apps or YouTube to find videos and guidelines of what to do.
  • Go outdoors, such as, for hikes, jogging, or play a sport if the weather allows.

4. Anything else you’d like to add? Thanks!

It is best to always remember that everybody was once a beginner at the gym, but they later overcame the hardships earlier experienced. Again, never forget your goal; chase it.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
