HOT WEATHER WHAT ARE THE RISKY FOOD FOR PICNICS AND BBQS

What Foods Spoil Quicker in Heat. Are There Any Alternatives to These?

Some foods tend to go bad easily with the increased heat and temperatures. Here are some highly perishable foods that deteriorate faster in heat;

  • Bananas
  • Peaches
  • Hummus
  • Avocado
  • Cooked vegetables and grains
  • Yogurt
  • Berries
  • Deli meat
  • Fish

I recommend you replace these foods with the healthier alternatives below that take longer to spoil regardless of the increased heat;

  • Honey
  • Dried fruits
  • Ghee
  • Nuts
  • Canned fish and meat
  • Jerky
  • Encased cheese
  • White rice
  • Dried beans
  • Dark chocolate

 What should you avoid taking to BBQ or picnic, and why?

I strongly against carrying the following foods when going for BBQs or picnics;

Mayo salads

Any food dressed or topped with mayo salads, from meats, potatoes, and fish to pasta should be avoided when having BBQs or picnics. Mayo-based salads need to be stored in cool places, which is quite the opposite in picnics. The increased exposure to warm temperatures can make the foods spoil faster, heightening the risk of stomach upsets.

Raw fish

The idea of grilling your raw fish can be thrilling when having BBQs or a picnic. However, raw fish can easily go bad due to poor storage, and the bad odor can spread to other food. Avoid this problem by carrying a grilled chicken.

I am deeply convinced that each patient needs a unique, individual approach. Therefore, I use different psychotherapy methods in my work. During my studies, I discovered an in-depth interest in people as a whole and the belief in the inseparability of mind and body, and the importance of emotional health in physical health. In my spare time, I enjoy reading (a big fan of thrillers) and going on hikes.
